What is Cold Plunge?

Cold Plunge is a form of cold therapy – like our Full Body Cryotherapy – and is a science-backed practice to improve overall wellness and vitality. It involves immersing your body into icy cold water for a short period of time. For many people, 3 minutes is best for beginners and up to 5 minutes for experts. The exposure to super cold water triggers a cascade of beneficial physiological responses in your brain and body (more below for you nerds!). Be prepared: the first 60 seconds are breathtakingly intense (literally), which some even describe as slightly painful. But eventually you start to acclimate to the cold and by the end you will feeling ahhhmazing!

At Degree Wellness, you have access to our state-of-the-art Cold Plunge suite for 15 minutes. Use the private suite to put on your plunge gear and psyche yourself up for the best 3 minutes of your day. After your plunge, you’ll receive towel service to dry off and go conquer the rest of your day. Or slip into our robe and sandals and treat yourself to more self-care at Degree!

And best of all, the only thing you need to bring is yourself. We’ll provide you with gear to wear during your plunge. But if you want to rock your own bathing suit (we won’t judge if you want to show off on Insta!) we’ll provide you a bag to take your wet clothes with you.

Health Benefits of Cold Plunge

Cold water exposure has been shown to provide multiple health benefits, including:

  • Pain & Inflammation: Cold plunging helps reduce pain and inflammation through a series of processes known as vasoconstriction and vasodilation. When you immerse your body in cold water during a plunge, your blood vessels constrict, reducing blood flow to the area.
